Girios aidas is a forest museum in Druskininkai, at M. K. Čiurlionio g. 116. The museum was established in 1971 on the initiative of forester A. Valavičius. It was rebuilt in 1992 after a fire. There is also the Druskininkai Forest District Training and Information Center at the same location. The museum exhibits taxidermies of Lithuanian animals and birds, exhibition photographs of the country’s landscapes and fauna, and works by Lithuanian folk artists. Along the forest walking trail around the museum, some rare Lithuanian tree species and larger wooden sculptures, roofed posts, benches, and other decorative wood carvings are displayed. The authors include well-known Lithuanian folk artists A. Česnulis, S. Vaida, A. Lastauskas, A. Raugala, J. Videika, and others. In 1975, a Foresters’ Barn was built beside the museum. In 1976, old horizontal and vertical log beehives from traditional Lithuanian beekeeping began to be exhibited in the museum yard.
