Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 11 May 2026 · Effective date: 11 May 2026
These Terms govern your use of the Baltic Traveler mobile application (iOS & Android) and the website at www.baltic-traveler.com (together, the “Service”). By installing, opening, or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. About us
Baltic Traveler is operated by the Baltic Traveler team (“we”, “us”, “our”). For any questions about these Terms, please contact us at hello@baltic-traveler.com.
2. The Service
Baltic Traveler is a travel-guide app for Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. It provides curated tourist locations, historical descriptions, photos, a wishlist and visited-place tracker, offline city downloads, and basic navigation helpers (GPS-based distance and direction).
We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time without prior notice. The Service is provided as-is — we work hard to keep it accurate but make no guarantees of uninterrupted availability.
3. Eligibility & account
You may use the Service if you are at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country). The app does not require account registration; it identifies your device with an anonymous identifier so we can sync your wishlist and visited locations across sessions. You are responsible for keeping your device secure.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to our servers, databases, or other users' devices;
- scrape, copy, reproduce, or commercially exploit the Service or its content beyond what is allowed by these Terms or the applicable licences;
- upload comments that are defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, infringe third-party rights, or are otherwise objectionable;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service or the servers and networks that host it.
5. User-generated comments
The app lets you leave short comments and ratings on locations. By posting a comment you:
- confirm that the content is yours and does not infringe anyone else's rights;
- grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, distribute, and store that content in connection with the Service;
- understand that other users may see your comment, the author name you chose, and the date posted.
We may remove any comment that violates these Terms or local law, at our discretion and without prior notice.
6. Intellectual property
All app interfaces, logos, and original written descriptions that we create are protected by copyright and trademark law and remain our property. Photographs and reference materials sourced from third parties (e.g. Wikimedia Commons, Google Places) are used under their respective licences, with attribution shown in the app or on this website where required.
You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
7. Third-party services and data
The Service relies on third-party platforms and data sources, including:
- Google Maps Platform / Places API for some place metadata and photos;
- Wikimedia Commons for openly licensed images;
- Apple App Store and Google Play for app distribution.
Your use of those third-party services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or content of third-party services. A portion of the location catalogue — including names, descriptions, addresses, photos, opening hours, ratings, and other metadata — is compiled and periodically refreshed through automated processes from public sources; while we make reasonable efforts to curate and review entries, we do not warrant that every piece of information is accurate, current, complete, or free from errors, and accept no liability for inaccuracies, omissions, or outdated content surfaced through such automated collection.
8. Location data & safety
The app uses your device's GPS and compass to deliver navigation guidance. Do not rely on the app for safety-critical navigation: always obey local traffic rules, respect private property, and use common sense when exploring historical sites, dunes, lakeshores, or rural areas.
Location coordinates are approximate and may contain errors. We accept no liability for any incidents, injury, loss, or damage resulting from reliance on Service data.
9. Disclaimer & limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to EUR 50 (fifty euros).
10. Privacy
Your privacy matters. How we collect, use, and protect personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
11. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms. You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app — we have no contractual claim against you for doing so.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally — for instance, to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational changes. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, surface a notice in the app. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept them.
13. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be brought before the competent courts of Vilnius, Lithuania, unless local consumer law gives you the right to sue elsewhere.
14. Contact
